Oww, this is along time ago.
1) We took a free 3 hour walking tour of Berlin with New Europe -seeing the Bradenburg Gate, the Recihstag, Paris Plaza (including the hotel where Michael Jackson dangled his baby out on the the balcony, the Holocaust memorial, Checkpoint Charlie, the Berlin Wall etc. We then went Museum Island and saw some stuff. We then went up the Reichstag to the very top. We got back to the hotel and met this awesome Dane who was watching friends (immediately a connection), we then went out with him on the town. We got back at two
2) The next day we did the Neues Museum , some washing (that is for my mum, who wanted to know- and we did have so fruit also, Mother). We then did some more museums etc and then another night out out.
3) We then did the Jewish Museum and then took an afternoon train to Prague (we skipped out Colditz for practical reasons, ie time, hard to get to, no room at hostel). Prague is awesome, it's really cheap and beautiful
We didn't have time for Potsdam or the Olympic Stadium- Sad Times!
Some notes:
People in hostels are really friendly
Germany is too flat, but The Czech Republic is soo beautiful
Smoking Bans are a very good thing
Jagerbobmbs are interesting
Strange Person of the week award:
The man at Prague Station, who despite the fact we told him we have already booked a hostel, talked for 10 minutes about how good his hostel was, in comparison to the one we were at. He could have worked for the Daily mail given his failure to miss out important information and twist it for his own use. After 10 minutes, and then him following us to the shop, he finally left.
A honourable second place goes to the old German guy on our train who kept talking to us, despite our ineptitude at German,.
Songs of the Day:
Michael Jackson- Off the Wall- (i haven't heard it, and I don't really like MJ, but this is reference his baby dangle)
Berlin- Take my breath away- for the name of the band, this would certainly be in a top 10 of 80s powers ballads, though way below the great Bonnie and 'Total Eclipse of the Heart.'
Can't think of one for today- any suggestions.
